Not the way I wanted it.

One of the bright spots for Joel of not getting the teacher he hoped for or the friends that he wanted in his class was that one of his best friends was at least on his soccer team. That was an encouragement to all of us. Well, tonight we found out at practice that when the coach divided the group into two separate teams (we have 18 players), Joel's friend is now on the other team. Practices will be held with both teams together, so he'll still have that, but... But that's not how I wanted it. That's not how Joel wanted it. I don't like it. Sometimes it is hard being the Mommy and trying to say the right things. I didn't try to pretend that everything was ok. I told Joel that I was bummed out too. But it has to end there. Steve told me it will all work out ok. I know he's right. He said if we have a positive attitude Joel will too. He is right, and I will. BUT... I told him that right now I just want to be mad. So I was. I am getting better, but I am starting to see that maybe the Lord has more in mind for me regarding the disappointments of the last few days than He actually does for Joel. Dang.
*update: This year is going beautifully for Joel. He is enjoying school, learning a lot, and has not made any mention of missing his best friends or wishing things were different. I praise the Lord for His plan - even though I don't always understand it!

Kaylee's First Soccer Game

Kaylee has been so excited to start playing soccer! Ever since last spring when I complimented her running ability and said she'd be a good soccer player she's been eagerly waiting for her turn to play. She was able to join the Eastside Soccer Club in Sandy and be on the same team as her best friend Emma. This has been such a blessing. Another great thing is that Emma's mom is their coach. She is someone that Kaylee feels really comfortable with and who is someone that I really enjoy.

Because of Kaylee's enthusiasm we were so surprised at her trepidation once we arrived at the field for her first game. It took a lot of coaxing and encouragement to get her out there. She was quite timid at first - even stood out there sucking her thumb - but pretty soon she got past her fear.

She had a great time playing once her nerves calmed down! Similarly, the early morning fog cleared away revealing a beautiful, sunny autumn morning.
