The Three Wise Men

Well, I hope to fill in some posts soon, seeing as how many noteworthy things have happened since my top 10 lists. In the meantime, however, I couldn't pass up sharing this cute quote from Kaylee. She was playing a Bible Trivia card game the other day with one of my friends and the prompt was, "Jesus was brought gifts by the three wise men. They were: gold, frankincense, and _______." Kaylee thought for a moment and replied, "humor." Isn't that cute?

Hollywood

I had Kaylee strip her bed today so that I could put on new sheets. She told me she wanted her Hollywood sheets. I thought she meant her Hello Kitty sheets that have various USA locations on them. When I brought in the sheets I was chastised. She meant her Holly Hobbie sheets. Hollywood/Holly Hobbie. I get it. :0)

The Names Have Been Changed...

Names in this entry have been changed to protect the newly socially aware...
Yesterday one of my little ones, let's say *Kris*, was relating a story to me. I didn't know the context for this story and was completely baffled by one word that kept coming out - "staple." It turns out this word was a stumbling block because *Kris* knew it really wasn't the desired word. I was having a terrible time trying to help out because "staple" really did not ring any bells for me or jog my recent memory AT ALL. Well, I am very proud to report that the story being retold was a Bible story. The clue that finally gave it all away was when *Kris* said, "You know, Jesus' helpers." Jesus' helpers? Oh yes, the disciples!

Don Don & Pom Pom

Last night my parents came over for Reuben Sandwiches for an early celebration of St. Paddy's Day. In keeping with Jacob's vocabulary development he now has a name for them. Don Don (Gramma) and Pom Pom (Grampa). I love it! Keep the new words coming, Jacob!

Precious

Last Tuesday Jacob threw his arms around me and said, for the VERY FIRST TIME, "I love you, Mommy!" There is nothing like hearing those words for the first time from my littlest boy. It has taken him awhile to put all those words together, but that makes me all the more appreciative of his declaration! Thank you, Buddy. I love you too!

A Beautiful Day Indeed

Jacob is such a fun boy. He is happy and funny and loving. He is not, however, a big conversationalist (yet). I know that he understands everything that is going on around him and he participates in conversations, just not with words we can easily understand. He tells me lots of things about what he sees, but they are more concrete observations about construction equipment, airplanes, cars, birds, etc. Well, today we were driving along after a trip to Winco. It was a gorgeous spring-like morning with bright sunshine and clear blue sky. Without my having mentioned anything about the weather Jacob pipes up from the backseat, "It byu day mom." It dawned on me what he said. "It IS a beautiful day, Jake. Is that what you said?" He got a great big grin on his face, "Yeah." Wow. My heart soared! Today, if for no other reason, IS a beautiful day because Jacob was able to express in words what his heart was saying to him about the weather.
